Depending on the type of boat shoe and brand, it can take several days to weeks for boat shoes to break in. If you’ve recently bought a pair of boat shoes and want to break in to them quickly, just follow these 3 steps:

Step 1: Take a small bucket and fill in water. The bucket should be slightly bigger than the size of your boat shoes.

Step 2: Add some common table salt in water bucket. Just 2 stable spoons should be enough. Wait till the salt is completely dissolved in water.

Step 3: Now, immerse your boat shoes in to the bucket. Ensure that your boat shoes are fully immersed in the saline water. Leave it for a day and a night.

Next day morning, wear your boat shoes while they are still wet and go for a walk around the park or do any exercises you may prefer. The shoes will dry out much quicker than you think. Once dried, you will realize that the shoes have already broken in.

This is the easiest way to break in boat shoes and avoid waiting too long and not to mention those rashes that people get while the shoes are new.

Warning: Above solution is good for most type of leathers, but may not work or spoil some boat shoes. So, please check with the manufacturer if you are in doubt. This method works best with Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes.
